Biography
Dr. Daniel Podzamczer
Dr. Podzamczer is Coordinator of the AIDS Unit and a member of the Infectious Diseases Service of the Hospital Universitario de Bellvitge, Barcelona, Spain. Prior to this current duties, Dr. Podzamczer served as Coordinator of the Drug Abuse Unit, Hospital de Bellvitge, from 1987-1989.
After obtaining his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1977, Dr. Podzamczer completed post-graduate studies in Internal Medicine at the Hospital Universitario de Bellvitge, Barcelona and went on to complete his PhD (medicine) at the University of Barcelona in 1991.
Dr. Podzamczer’s research interests include AIDS-related complications, opportunistic infections and Kaposi’s sarcoma, and antiretroviral therapy (efficacy, metabolic complications and quality of life).
Dr. Podzamczer has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and is editor of a number of books on AIDS complications and antiretroviral therapy. He is a member of the scientific editorial boards of several journals including: HIV Reviews, HIV Medicine, Enfermedades Emergentes, Revista SEISIDA, and Actualizaciones en SIDA. Dr. Podzamczer is a member of many scientific societies including GESIDA, SEIMIC, SEISIDA, IAS, ASM.
