  Biography  

Pr Jean-Paul Moatti

Professor Jean-Paul Moatti is an internationally recognized expert in the field of health economics, who has had a major impact in regard to the problem of HIV disease. He recently edited with collegues a book on the «Economics of AIDS and Access to HIV/AIDS Care in developing Countries.» He has been a member of numerous World health organization and World Bank committees on this topic, and has forcelly argued that providing worldwide access to HIV/AIDS drugs on a urgent basis is a strategy that will save both lives and money in all countries.

Professor Moatti obtained his PhD at the University of Paris and is currently a Professor of Economics at the University of the Mediterranean in Marseille, France. He is also the director of an ISERM research group in Marseille. He has published numerous paper in the fields of HIV and health economics ans has received multiple awards for his research in these areas.
