Summary :
Key Points:

- Lipoatrophy may not be fully reversible, so consider avoiding or preemptively switching responsible agents

- Pharmacologic interventions to treat lipodystrophy have demonstrated limited effectiveness and may introduce new issues

- Switching one or more components of HAART is a viable strategy to reduce or prevent toxicities without sacrificing efficacy

- Switching or withdrawal of thymidine analogues is the only intervention proven to partially restore subcutaneous fat
